And recently, Council’s Treasurer Chrissy MacPhail received her service award from Jane Ledwell at the Council office. We will miss them both very much.

Cathy Rose of Fortune has served on the PEI Advisory Council on the Status of Women since 2018, appointed Vice-Chairperson from 2020-21 and Chairperson from 2021-23. Cathy has inspired Council colleagues and staff as a passionate and compassionate advocate for gender equality. Cathy’s vision for women’s economic security and self-sufficiency and her dedication to standing with survivors of violence have raised awareness and resulted in changes of action and understanding for countless Islanders. She has advocated strongly for resources for women’s organizations and especially for Council, and she revolutionized Council’s strategic planning processes, with an emphasis on valuing our time together and working effectively within our resources. She hosted the 2021 and 2022 Montreal Massacre Memorial Services with sincere solemnity. She contributed to two Equality Report Cards assessing government’s progress towards gender equality goals, capably leading the 2022 Report Card.

Chrissy MacPhail of Canoe Cove has served on the PEI Advisory Council on the Status of Women since 2018, filling the role of Treasurer of Council’s Executive from 2019 to 2023. In her time on the Advisory Council, Chrissy was consistently a passionate voice for Indigenous people of all genders, especially people living off-reserve. Sharing from her personal experience, she was an advocate for people with disabilities and for caregivers of people with disabilities. During her term, she contributed particularly to Council’s Gender and COVID-19 project and recommendations, and she was an active participant in five Purple Ribbon Campaigns Against Violence, as well as two Equality Report Card projects, in 2018 and 2022. Chrissy brings her zest for life, her depth of feeling, and her warm and hearty laugh to every table she sits at.
