A big International Women’s Day THANK YOU to everyone who came out to celebrate together March 8th! We were thrilled with how many people came to listen, learn, and dance together as we continue to strive for gender equality.

We have such an impressive depth of talent, heart, and commitment in our Island community! Sincere appreciation to all of our talented dancers: Sophia and Ellie Bourque, Erika (Alika) Perez, Reequal Smith, Julia Sauve, and Monelli Rahmatian. Also, our eloquent speakers: Bushra Bashir, Megan Stewart, Hsiao-Yu Liu, Ashley Clark, and singer Mikayla Gallant. Appreciation also to our amazing team of IWD organizers: Barb McDowall, Bushra Bashir, Caroline Galloway, Selina Khan, Ezra Santana, Sarah Outram, Kari Kruise, Sarah Woodcock, Yvonne Agboado, and Pooja Kumar.

Organizational support from our sister allies at Women’s Network PEI, the Coalition for Women’s Leadership, Community Sector Network and the Chairs Circle for Gender Equality was essential. And emcee-ing of the evening was graciously and enthusiastically managed by Alexia Riche. Thank you Megan Burnside, Tanya Craig, and Kirsten Birch for managing the very exuberant kids station for the evening.

Wela’lioq to all our wonderful sponsors and supporters of International Women’s Day 2025, including the Province’s Interministerial Women’s Secretariat. Financial support is critical and PEI unions are faithful and generous contributors: UPSE, PSAC, CUPE, and the Federation of Labour. The food provided by Cured Creations was delicious as always! Also a shout out to MacKenzie at the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre for being wonderful to work with and providing a great public venue!
