We had a super event that included film screening, table discussion, and hearing from a panel of Indigenous women last evening. About 30 people people showed up to do do the hard work of grappling with reconciliation between Indigenous people and settler Canadians.
Wela’lioq to Alyssa-Jo Bernard, Christine Bernard, Julie Pellissier-Lush, Kyra Barlow, and Cassidy McKellop for sharing their perspectives during the panel discussion. Thank you to Vanessa Bradley for moderating the panel and for organizing the event with Caroline Galloway. Appreciation extended to everyone who attended and shared their thoughts, feelings, and ideas for tangible action towards reconciliation.
Katherena Vermette’s 19-minute documentary offers “an Indigenous perspective on the devastating experience of searching for a loved one who has disappeared,” with themes of “beauty, grace, resilience, and activism born out of the need to do something.”
