Our executive director Vanessa Bradley, along with Council Treasurer Soleil Hutchinson, attended the 2026 Provincial Heritage Fair to award two special prizes for student projects on themes of gender equality and other hidden heritage.

We awarded Sophia Faccin our award on uncovering hidden heritage for her project on “Georgina Pope: A Forgotten Pioneer of Canada’s Military Nursing”.

We awarded Ruby Keller our award on gender equality for her project on “Les Droits des Femmes au Canada”.

The Advisory Council also awarded goodie bags of our stickers and badges to many students, which were a hit!

There were lots of incredible projects, and we were thrilled to see so many focusing on women’s efforts, gender equality, and diverse history. It’s essential to continue to encourage youth to think critically about who has traditionally controlled the dominant narratives of history, and to amplify the voices of those whose history has been overlooked.
