Congratulations to Gladys Alombro. Gladys was chosen as the successful recipient of the PEIACSW Maureen Larkin Memorial Migrant Worker Rights Bursary. She is pursuing training in business and entrepreneurship.

 

The $750 Maureen Larkin Memorial Migrant Worker Rights Bursary is awarded to a woman-identifying resident of PEI who is or has been classified as a “temporary foreign worker” in Canada and is pursuing further education. This bursary remembers Maureen Larkin who was a passionate advocate for social justice, known for her unwavering commitment to supporting newcomers, marginalized communities, and human rights. 

Congratulations to Lindsay Myers, recipient of the Diane Kays Memorial Post-Secondary Bursary. Lyndsay is in the Plumbing/ Pipefitting Program at Holland College.

 

The $750 bursary is for a woman-identifying student who is a resident of PEI and registered full-time at UPEI, Holland College, or Collège de l’île and is pursuing a field where women are under-represented or who is an active advocate for women’s equality. The bursary remembers past Council Chairperson Diane Kays, who was a strong voice for vulnerable women and families on PEI.

Congratulations to Shukri Hussein, Shukri is the refugee woman selected by the Council’s Bursary Committee to receive the Inge Blackett Memorial Refugee Bursary. She plans to pursue English classes.

 

The $750 Inge Blackett Memorial Refugee Bursary is for a woman-identifying PEI resident who entered Canada as a refugee and is pursuing further education or training. This bursary remembers past Council Vice-Chairperson Inge Blackett, who when she died was the last Holocaust survivor on PEI.
